Lazy foresail fitting

Product Information

The advantages of the "Sail-Smart Lazy Forsail" system from the Sail-Smart manufactory at a glance:

Adaptable to any existing furling system.

Simple and powerful

self-turning ability

The self-tending foresail makes cruising against the wind easier

Security through central operation

It can be operated entirely from the cockpit and does not require any additional support from a fellow sailor.

This contributes to increased safety and is particularly interesting for solo sailors and charter services.

Easy handling

The foresail is already dismantled for courses in space or aft, and there is no need to handle a spinnaker pole on the foredeck in rough seas. To be on the safe side, it can of course also be secured with a spinnaker pole. If you drive your spinnaker pole on a rail on the mast, all you have to do to dismantle it is hook the outer end of the spinnaker pole into the nock of the staysail boom and lower it.

much height upwind for the shorter route

Thanks to narrow sheeting, the boom jib enables a lot of height upwind

balance

Thanks to the automatic adjustment of the hauling point, the foresail can also be reefed, so that balanced proportions between the foresail and mainsail are no longer a problem.

Free foredeck

The staysail boom can be pulled for port maneuvers, the foredeck is free.

Handling is easy even for a small or inexperienced team.

adaptability

The fitting can be easily adapted to any existing furling system. There are three sizes to choose from. Feel free to contact us if you are unsure of the size you need.

The lazy foresail principle:

The jib boom with its gooseneck fitting is attached to a "Sail Smart Lazy Foresail" - Fitting driven directly to the furling system.  The foresail is rolled out as far as desired using a hoisting line. It is rolled in or reefed using the reefing line of the furling system. The jib can be reefed thanks to a traveler rail on the jib boom. The hole point is adjusted automatically.  This principle is described in our patent specification from 2013.
All control lines are diverted into the cockpit. This means that it is not necessary to go to the foredeck when especially the sea is rough. The "Sail-Smart Lazy Foresail" system combines comfortable cruising against the wind and walking high upwind due to the advantages of the classic jib with the comfortable and safe reefing and operation of the foresail due to the advantages of a furling system. It is not necessary to dismantle the foresail with a spinnaker pole on stern courses, the foresail is always dismantled.  Of course, a spinnaker pole can still be used to prevent "patent necks". If you drive and store your spinnaker pole on a rail on the mast, all you have to do to remove it is hook the outer end of the spinnaker pole into the nock of the jib pole and lower the spinnaker pole. The system is suitable for all sailing yachts without a baby forestay. The "Sail-Smart Lazy-Foresail" fitting is suitable for all common furling systems.

Lazy Foresail System Requirements:
